Day 54 - John 8:25-30

25 “Who are you?” they demanded.

Jesus replied, “The one I have always claimed to be. 26 I have much to say about you and much to condemn, but I won’t. For I say only what I have heard from the one who sent me, and he is completely truthful.” 27 But they still didn’t understand that he was talking about his Father.

28 So Jesus said, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the cross, then you will understand that I am he. I do nothing on my own but say only what the Father taught me. 29 And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.” 30 Then many who heard him say these things believed in him.

Terrie's Comments:
Jesus is who we are to become like.  We are to be following the Holy Spirit's leading and listening to what God wants us do do.  We are to speak only what we hear from Him.  Listening to the Holy Spirit's leading takes time.  It is a relationship that is developed.  It becomes stronger the more we tune him in.  We always have a choice, just like Jesus had a choice.  Listening to what He says to do or not to do.  Listening to what He says to speak or not to speak.  When we make Jesus lord of our lives we are given the Holy Spirit to teach, guide, comfort and empower us to walk in the way we should go.

Tori's Comments:

One characteristic of God I have been dwelling on lately is that He is a guardian, a refuge, a shepherd, in the way that He protects me. I say this because I depend on Him a lot, and glorify Him, for His consistency , which Jesus shows in verse 25. God has not changed, from Genesis to Revelation to today to forevermore!
