Day 9 - Galatians 4:1-7

Think of it this way. If a father dies and leaves an inheritance for his young children, those children are not much better off than slaves until they grow up, even though they actually own everything their father had. 2 They have to obey their guardians until they reach whatever age their father set. 3 And that’s the way it was with us before Christ came. We were like children; we were slaves to the basic spiritual principles of this world.

4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child.  And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

Tori's Comments:

So, first of all, I really love the meme Terrie has chosen below. Just wanted to give her a thumbs over over the internet. :)

"buy freedom" What a price he paid, too.

I am God's child! Adopted by Him-- chosen by Him! What a beautiful truth I'll never fully comprehend. A promise of love that I too often forget. But it's right here in scripture, ready for me to come back to.

Terrie's Comments:
I love that Paul is so desperately wanting us to "get" the freedom that Jesus came to give us that he is "putting it another way".  That is the heart of a true teacher... having patience to explain something many ways so that everyone will get the lesson that is being taught :-)

We are no longer slaves to the law... we are FREE with the Spirit of Jesus Christ in us!!  How glorious it is!

Unpopular Opinion Puffin - this is my over half way dance!! congrats guys!!

Day 45 - 1 Corinthians 14:33-40

33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.

34 Women should be silent during the church meetings. It is not proper for them to speak. They should be submissive, just as the law says. 35 If they have any questions, they should ask their husbands at home, for it is improper for women to speak in church meetings.

36 Or do you think God’s word originated with you Corinthians? Are you the only ones to whom it was given? 37 If you claim to be a prophet or think you are spiritual, you should recognize that what I am saying is a command from the Lord himself. 38 But if you do not recognize this, you yourself will not be recognized.

39 So, my dear brothers and sisters, be eager to prophesy, and don’t forbid speaking in tongues. 40 But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.

Tori's Comments:

This seems to me that the people of God should just be emanating peace. It isn't something I have been doing lately with college stress getting to me, but I need to stay grounded in the truth.

Verse 34-----um....... anyone? Anyone at all? Nothing? Me neither.

Terrie's Comments:

So this is continuing in the passage about tongues and prophecy.  I am thinking that the passage about women has more to do with the tradition of the culture at that time.  It would have hindered the gospel from being spread to work against the culture in that way.  Everything Paul is talking about is to bring about peace and order in the body of Christ not dissension.

In verse 39 Paul references both men and women are to be eager to prophesy and speak in tongues.  Just to be sure everything is done in order.

HALFWAY THERE!!!

HALFWAY THERE!!!

I keep bouncing between being happy and sad, but because we've all made it this far, I have a treat.

Are you ready?

I wrote a song for y'all (excuse my Texan)!

Now, this song just so happens to have the exact same tune as He Knows by Jeremy Camp. Just a coincidence, I'm sure, but here's that song so you can hear the beat:

The part that's so similar, the chorus, starts at about 42 seconds.

And here are the lyrics so you can sing along:

He brews
He brews
Every coffee, every tea
When you're done you'll have to pee
He brews
*oh oh woah oh woah oh woah oh woah*

Of course, his chorus is longer than mine, but I went for a simpler and stronger message, you know?

15 MORE DAYS!!! We got this.

I LOVE that song Tori... Thank you for sharing :-)
