Day 10 - James 4:11-17

Don’t speak evil against each other, dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize and judge each other, then you are criticizing and judging God’s law. But your job is to obey the law, not to judge whether it applies to you. 12 God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?

13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” 16 Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.

17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

Terrie's Comments:

Verse 17 is a great concise definition of sin... when we are being led by the Holy Spirit this is our guide... "it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it"

The Holy Spirit leads us, teaches us, comforts us, guides us.  He is that inner voice, that unction that we get inside, an overwhelming peace.  He causes scriptures to come alive and embeds them into our hearts and lives.  He brings others to help us when we cannot help ourselves.  God is not silent in the lives of His children.  If you cannot hear the Holy Spirit's voice get still with Him.  Take time to listen for Him.  Relationships don't often happen by accident they take time and priority.  Intimacy with God is no different.  He is ready to engage wholeheartedly whenever you make time for Him.  HE LOVES YOU!

Tori's Comments:

I have never thought about it that way, but I realize I can tend to brag about my future plans without realizing that it all depends on whether God carries them through or not. I can be down here scheduling in vain, for all I know!

Please keep all comments respectful. We want to remember that each of us is at a different place in our walk with God. This is a place for us to share openly about what has been revealed to us as we open up Gods word and to learn from others. Please take every opportunity possible to build each other up in love :-)
