21 Dear friends, if we don’t feel guilty, we can come to God with bold confidence. 22 And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him.
23 And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. 24 Those who obey God’s commandments remain in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Spirit he gave us lives in us.

It shows the importance of obedience to God! That's our goal, to follow in Christ's footsteps.

Such a short passage but so much is contained in these few verses :-) Because there is no need to feel guilty, when we are in fellowship with Jesus Christ, we can come to God with bold confidence and we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him... This means that we are in fellowship with Jesus. We know that we are in fellowship with Jesus because the Holy Spirit lives in us. His commandments that he talks about all through 1 John are these: Believe in the name of God's Son, Jesus Christ, Love one another as believers. Those who do these things remain in fellowship with Jesus and he is in relationship with them. We have the deposit of the Holy Spirit to guide us and assure us of this relationship we have with Jesus Christ.
