Day 49 - 1 Corinthians 15:29-34

29 If the dead will not be raised, what point is there in people being baptized for those who are dead? Why do it unless the dead will someday rise again?

30 And why should we ourselves risk our lives hour by hour? 31 For I swear, dear brothers and sisters, that I face death daily. This is as certain as my pride in what Christ Jesus our Lord has done in you. 32 And what value was there in fighting wild beasts—those people of Ephesus—if there will be no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no resurrection, “Let’s feast and drink, for tomorrow we die!” 33 Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.” 34 Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.

Tori's Comments:

I didn't realize baptism symbolized what was to come.

We do not face death daily here. But its presence is very obvious in day to day life. Spending time with other Christians reminds us that this is not our home and that we are temporarily here.

Terrie's Comments:

If we know God and have made Jesus Lord in our lives we will stop sinning and think carefully about what is right.  We will not make up worldly excuses for our behavior that "isn't that bad".

Our society throws around certain ideas like candy... "you only live once", "YOLO", "I need me time", "I deserve a break" ... it's very popular to think like this.  Not biblical or God like but popular.  We have to remember it is not about us... nothing is about us.  It is all about Jesus Christ.  It is not about our wants, needs, desires or cravings.  It is all about the desires God has put in our hearts to accomplish his purpose in our lives.  We are to live with an eternal focus, with a God focus.  Fully devoted to Jesus Christ... no room for "ME" or "I".
