Day 11- Ephesians 4:10-16

10 And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself.

11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

Tori's Comments:
We need to grow in our faith so we can have strong roots and know what God's word says against what others want it to say.

"speak the truth in love"

Terrie's Comments:

I don't think I have ever considered that Christ gave us apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers as gifts to equip us to do his work and build up the body of Christ.  That is cool that they are a gift to us.

When we have come to maturity we no longer are tossed back and forth between teachings.  We will not be able to be tricked by lies that are clever and sound like the truth but is not.  We will in turn be able to speak the truth ourselves to others in love.  We will be growing in every way to be more and more like Jesus.  As we each do our part we help the other parts grow so that the whole body is healthy, growing and full of love.

It would be great if every church valued all parts and worked together as a healthy body that is growing and full of love... someday :-)

Please keep all comments respectful. We want to remember that each of us is at a different place in our walk with God. This is a place for us to share openly about what has been revealed to us as we open up Gods word and to learn from others. Please take every opportunity possible to build each other up in love :-)
