Hebrews 10:21-30
21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
26 Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. 27 There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. 28 For anyone who refused to obey the law of Moses was put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Just think how much worse the punishment will be for those who have trampled on the Son of God, and have treated the blood of the covenant, which made us holy, as if it were common and unholy, and have insulted and disdained the Holy Spirit who brings God’s mercy to us. 30 For we know the one who said,
“I will take revenge.
I will pay them back.”
He also said,
“The Lord will judge his own people.”

If we understand fully the old covenant, the one which Jesus Christ fulfilled all requirements of at the cross on our behalf. If we really get all that Jesus has saved us from and the hope that we have when we place total trust in what He did for us at Calvary. If we then choose to keep on doing things we know are against God's will then we are trampling on what Jesus did for us... spitting in His face. If you know who God is and then choose to deliberately sin against Him it is like you are treating something so precious, so rare, so Holy like it is common place. We are insulting the Holy Spirit who speaks to our mind and hearts about the things of God.
God's mercy, Jesus Blood, and the Holy Spirit's personal witness are so precious and are to be treated with highest respect, honor and praise. Let us not go to a place where they are taken for granted as common place in our lives. Let us always honor God's ways above our own.

I find it interesting that he says we need to motivate one another to love and to do good. It almost makes me relieved that I'm not the only one who has trouble doing just that a lot of the time. And I mean a LOT of the time. But I know that joy spreads, it's contagious, and so is love. If it's stronger than hate, then I use that to fight back, but through conscientious choice.
